Life Story for Barbara Lee Guthman

BARBARA LEE GUTHMAN, 88 of Delta, PA, formerly of Brogue, died on Monday, February 4, 2019 in her home. She was the beloved wife of Ronald (aka Roland) Warren Guthman who died on April 11, 2008.

Born on November 7, 1930 in Belfry, WV and resided for many years in Parkersburg, WV, she was one of four children born to the late Leslie and Mami (Potter) Hoy. Barbara had been employed as a secretary for various businesses including Attorney/Judge Landbeck and the Huber Chemical Plant in Havre de Grace, MD, retiring in 1978. A member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, she was active in church activities, sang in the choir, cared for the little ones in the nursery, took photographs of events and created videos.

Barbara and her late husband enjoyed polka dancing and shared this joy with their entire family. Known as a strict loving mother, she dedicated herself to family, making sure each holiday gathering was memorable and cherished every time together. Her family commented that she was a role model for family as well as church family members.

Linda Kay Turner, also of Parkersburg

Six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a former daughter-in-law, Penny.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Hoy Johnson

Services will be held in her church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 48 Muddy Creek Forks Road, Brogue, PA 17309 with a visitation on Thursday, February 7th from 6 to 8 p.m., a visitation on Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service. Church ministry assistant, Mr. Todd Hendricks will officiate with interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
