Life Story for Ruth L. Reynolds
RUTH L. REYNOLDS, 97 of Pylesville, MD died on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard “Dick” Reynolds who passed in 1983.
Born on April 25, 1921 in Elkton, MD she was the daughter of the late Charles Armstrong Jackson and Laura (Deputy) Jackson, a graduate of Elkton High School followed with an associate degree awarded from Beacom College. Ruth was a longtime member of Mt. Vernon U.M. Church where she had served as treasurer, on the cemetery board and was the pianist/organist for over 30 years. Music was very important to her life, and she took great pride in sharing her talents with others.
Ruth had been employed as a secretary for Delaware Coach Company in Wilmington, DE followed by working with her father at Prospect Mill. She and her late husband purchased Reynolds Mill, and they worked together until his death. Her responsibilities were delivering stone ground cornmeal and flour in Harford and Cecil Counties in addition to southern Pennsylvania counties. She worked for the former Fawn Grove Manufacturing Company and part time at the former Mason-Dixon Livestock Company, Aberdeen Sales and additional local businesses as a clerk.
Her family commented that she was very proud to receive the honor of being named “Living Legend in Harford County” in March 2011.
She is survived by:

Myra Dressler and her husband, Michael of Hilham, TN
Wilson Reynolds and his wife, Linda of Pylesville, MD
Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Gifford Jackson
Viewings will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, Delta, PA. The funeral will be held on at 11 a.m. Thursday, the 24th in Mt. Vernon U.M. Church, 1510 Deep Run Road, Whiteford, MD 21160 with interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
Church pastor, Reverend Arthur Justice will co-officiate with Reverend Melissa McDade and family member, Reverend Barbara Auer.
