Life Story for Richard Stephen Garvine

Richard Stephen  Garvine
RICHARD STEPHEN GARVINE, 81 of Bel Air, MD, died on Sunday, April 29, 2018 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air. Born on April 7, 1937 in Delta, PA, he was a son of the late Clarence Edward and Jane Elizabeth (Dugan) Garvine.

A 1955 graduate of Kennard Dale High School in Fawn Grove, PA, Richard continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh, receiving his degree in Chemistry in 1959 followed by his Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Loyola University, Baltimore, MD. Richard worked for the former Crown Central Petroleum for 18 years as a chemical engineer and had worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. Richard retired in 1996.

An avid outdoorsman, Richard enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, appreciated all types of wildlife and had been a NRA Range Instructor. He had attended St. Margaret’s Catholic Parish in Bel Air, MD, cherished his family and enjoyed time with his grandchildren.

Steven T. Garvine and his wife, Stephanie of Bozeman, MT
Christina S. Courtright and her husband, Eric of York, PA

His sister, Janet Whiteford and her husband, Les of Whiteford, MD

His brother, Donald Garvine and his wife, Linda of Myrtle Beach, SC

His four grandchildren-
Molly Marie Garvine, Alexis Adin Courtright, Nathaniel Bryce Garvine and Kristen Elise Garvine

Services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 786 Mt. Olivet Church Road, Fawn Grove, PA with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service. Pastor Beth Holz of The Peach Bottom Charge will officiate with interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Military honors will be presented at graveside by the York County Veteran Honor Guard.
