Obituary for Gladys Elizabeth Hutton

Gladys Elizabeth Hutton
GLADYS ELIZABETH (VAN HART) HUTTON, 92, of Delta, PA, died on Monday January 8, 2018 at York Hospital in York, PA. Married on August 7, 1943, she was the wife of the late Paul Turshi Hutton.

Born on August 27, 1925 in Fawn Township, PA, Gladys began attending Delta United Methodist Church in 1941 and joined the church in 1952. Church life, fellowship, and activities brought her great joy and numerous friendships. She was dedicated to her faith and church family for most of her lifetime.

While she attended both the former Fawn Township Vocational High School and former Slate Ridge High School, Gladys received her high school diploma from Vo-Tech in York, PA. She then went on to receive her Dental Certificate from Harford Community College, attended York Empire School of Cosmetology and one semester at Penn State, York Campus. Gladys worked as a secretary for three years at former Slate Ridge Elementary School; however, Gladys was recognized by everyone as the dedicated receptionist for Dr. John M. Dooley, serving the community there for 20 years. A fashion admirer, Gladys loved to shop and was quite taken with her daughter’s chihuahuas that she fondly named her “fur grandchildren.”

She is survived by:

Her daughter Tianda T. Hutton of Delta, PA

Sister, Nelda Griffith of Delta, PA

Proceeded in death by her sister, Arthelia Peyton and brother, Wilbur Van Hart

Gladys has requested that her services remain private. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Delta United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Delta, PA 17314
