Life Story for Rheba Ingram Webb

Rheba Ingram  Webb
RHEBA EVELYN (INGRAM) WEBB, 91 years of Elizabethtown, formerly of Fawn Grove, PA, passed peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2017 in the Masonic Village. Married for over 72 years, she was the beloved wife of Vincent Curtis Webb.

Born on May 3, 1926 in the Castleton area of Harford County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Paul Landreth and Minnie Ellen (Mahaffey) Ingram and a 1943 graduate of the former Slate Ridge High School in Cardiff, MD. Rheba continued her education at the Thompson Business School in Washington, D.C. and secured employment with the F.B.I., resigning in the fall of 1944 to care for her mother in her declining health.

On December 9, 1944, she married the loved of her life, Vincent in the family farm house that is now known as the former Whiteford Packing Company grounds and moved to the Webb Family Farm just outside of Fawn Grove, PA. Rheba sold fire insurance for 8 years, completing the work of her father-in-law before obtaining a teller position with the former York Bank & Trust Company, where she served for 20 years at the Red Lion location.

Rheba joined the Fawn United Methodist Church of Fawn Grove in the spring of 1945 where she sang in the church choir for over 50 years, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, was a member of the Women’s Group and served for 50 years as chairwoman of missions for the United Methodist District.

An avid gardener, Rheba was fond of growing roses, arranging flowers and was a longtime member of the Southern York County Flower Club.

Rheba was proud of the Webb Heritage where five generations had lived for a span of 30 years in the family farm house-Richard Thomas Webb, Marvin Eugene Webb, Vincent Curtis Webb, Jerry L. Webb and John C. Webb. She remarked often that she loved traveling and felt the most wonderful times of her life was spent with her husband.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by:
A son, Jerry Lee Webb and his wife, Brenda of Stewartstown, PA

A daughter-in-law, Kris Webb (wife of the late Ronald Curtis Webb) of Red Lion, PA

Grandchildren, John Curtis Webb of Harrisburg, PA and the late Brian Keith Webb

Three great grandchildren-Joslyn Lee, Jared Keith and Brianna Nicole Miller of Airville, PA

A sister, Glenna Ellen (Bostick) Murki of Florida

A step-sister, Helen Fleshman of Crofton, MD

Additional family members that preceded her in death: brothers, William Grayson Ingram, Henry McKinley Clay Ingram, Lacy Edward Ingram and step-brother, Donald Baxter

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Fawn United Methodist Church, 67 S. Market Street, Fawn Grove, PA 17321. Pastor Larry Parlett and Reverend Robert Anderson will co-officiate. Family will greet after the service during the luncheon in the church social hall.
