Obituary for William Francis McCartin

William Francis   McCartin
WILLIAM FRANCIS MCCARTIN, of Kingsville, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Carroll (Burman) McCartin for more than 66 years.

William (better known as Bill) was son of the late William Francis and Minnie Mae (Davis) McCartin. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, three daughters, Susan Witherite, Kathleen Kick, and Jennifer McCartin, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Merson and Robert McCartin.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Mr. McCartin served in the European arena of WWII. He worked for Chesapeake Cadillac of Baltimore for 39 years. After retiring, he continued his interests in photography, woodworking, and pursuing his love for the preservation of American history, and eagerly sharing his interests with his grandchildren. He served on the Board of the Historic Jerusalem Mill Village, and was often seen in authentic Revolutionary War garb greeting visitors at the Mill.

Bill has been an employee of the Fire Museum of Maryland in Lutherville for the past 17 years. He ensured the preservation of an extensive collection of historic fire equipment, gave tours of the Alarm Room, and enthusiastically hosted children’s parties at the Museum.

Mr. and Mrs. McCartin have participated in a ministry to local nursing homes for the past 23 years. He was dedicated in his faith, and a longtime member of North Harford Baptist Church in Jarrettsville. William read his Bible from Genesis through Revelation three times, and was working on the fourth.

A graveside service will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD.

A Memorial Service for William McCartin will be held on Tuesday, Aug 15, 5:00 p.m. at North Harford Baptist Church located at 4008 Old Federal Hill Road Jarrettsville, MD 21084. Refreshments following in the Fellowship Hall.
